July 2011 is in the books and it was the first month in my station’s history that had an average temperature above 80. July’s came in at 81 degrees. We also shattered my stations record high (106 on 7/22) and set the record for highest dew point on 7/21 (82 degrees.) The average humidity for the month was 70%.
23 of the 31 days were 90 degrees or warmer (including the last 14 straight), 8 were 95 or warmer and 3 were over 100.
BWI (the official recording station for Baltimore since 1950), also hit 106 on 7/22 which is a record for that site and just one degree shy of the all-time Baltimore record of 107, recorded downtown in 1936. The Maryland Science Center hit 108 on the 22nd. This is the now the highest temperature ever recorded in downtown Baltimore, but isn’t a record since the official station is now BWI.
As for precipitation, we received 3.23″ of rain this month over 9 days, including 7/8 when drenching thunderstorms brought 1.74″.
