Irene roared through Maryland last night and early this morning. Station data here in Millersville indicates the center of Irene passed by the coast around 3:45 this morning when station barometric pressure bottomed out at 29.00″.
In its wake, the state is dealing with downed trees, flooding from heavy rain and power outages. At this time, 473,210 of BGE’s 1,266,600 customers are without power.
The winds gusted to 51mph at BWI, where 4.60″ of rain fell. Winds sustained at 60mph, gusting to 80mph were reported in Ocean City where over 12″ of rain fell.

Winds are still gusting out of the NW as Irene takes her wrath to New England, but conditions will continue to improve as me move into the afternoon hours.
