Last night, between 11:30 and 12:30, we picked up 2.25″ of rain here in Millersville. Today’s 2.99″ (and counting) has pushed our storm total to 7.94″ so far.
We will add to that today as the band of showers and storms continues to push up from the south. Another 1-3 inches of rain is expected today and tonight as the remnants of Lee continue to spin to our west and pump deep tropical moisture up the coast. Today’s heaviest rain should move west some, hopefully bringing a bit of relief to areas along I-95 where upwards of 10-12″ of rain have fallen this week.
The low will begin to weaken as we head towards the weekend, and as it does, our heavy rain chances will begin to wind down as well. Regardless, scattered showers and storms will be possible through the weekend before Canadian high pressure finally moves in next week.
Temperatures will be near normal for this time of year with highs in the low 80s.
In other news, Tropical Storm Maria and Tropical Storm Nate have formed. Nate is in the Gulf of Mexico and looks to become a hurricane before moving into Mexico early next week. Maria is out in the Atlantic, east of the Caribbean Islands and looks to move in a general NW motion over the next 5 days. This will bring the storm towards the East Coast by the middle of next week. Early forecasts have this storm curving much like Katia, but it must be monitored.
