Today is the first day of winter, and it surely won’t feel like it, with afternoon highs around 60 under partly sunny skies. Clouds will thicken this evening ahead of a fast moving, potent storm system moving in from the southwest. This storm will quickly move through tonight, bringing a period of moderate to heavy rain. Rainfall totals will approach an inch across the state before everything ends tomorrow morning.
We clear out tomorrow, with highs in the mid 50s. Skies will be partly cloudy on Christmas Eve with highs in the mid 40s. The storm system that looked as though it may bring light rain or snow to the area on Christmas Day now looks like it will move out to sea and not up the coast bringing nothing more than clouds to the area. Highs return to near normal, low to mid 40s, for Sunday and Monday before warming a bit as we move towards midweek.
