It is beginning to look as though the mainly zonal pattern that has kept the cold air bottled up in Canada will break down as we head into next week.
After a mild New Year’s weekend, a series of cold fronts will cross the area on Monday and Tuesday ushering in the coldest air of the season thus far. As we move into the middle of next week, highs could be in the mid 30s with overnight lows in the low 20s.
Unfortunately for snow lovers, there doesn’t appear to be any major threat of a storm while the cold air is in place. There is always the possibility that things could develop, but right now, it looks as though it will be cold and dry into next weekend.
