A warm front currently just to our south will move northward, allowing warm moist air to overspread the state. Highs today will be warmer than yesterday, approaching the mid 70s across central Maryland.
This will set the stage for a round of showers and possibly a few thunderstorms this afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west. Any storms that develop could produce damaging winds and small hail.
Remember, the KLWX radar is down for maintenance, so please use the Regional Radar and the TBWI Radar to track the progress of the showers and storms today.
Behind the front, strong northwesterly winds are expected.
A High Wind Warning is in effect for northern central and western Maryland, where gusts could exceed 60 mph. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the rest of central and eastern Maryland where gusts to 50 mph are possible.
It will still be windy tonight and tomorrow, as high pressure continues to build in. Tomorrow’s highs will top out in the mid 40s but it will feel much colder due to the wind. Highs on Sunday will be near normal under sunny skies, warming to the mid 50s on Monday and Tuesday ahead of another cold front that will affect the area midweek.
