Today will be mostly sunny and cool, with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Winds will pick up again this afternoon, gusting to near 30mph at times. The winds combined with low humidity levels will elevate the fire threat across the state through this evening.
Winds will diminish tonight and with clear skies, expect another cold night. The Freeze Watch that is in effect for Western Maryland will likely becoming a Freeze Warning as temperatures plummet to the low 30s. Elsewhere, expect lows in the mid 30s to near 40.
A warming trend begins tomorrow, as the high pressure that is controlling our weather moves off the coast. Tomorrow’s highs will punch into the mid 60s under sunny skies.
Several areas of rain will likely move to the north of the area over the weekend, as the area of high pressure keeps us dry and continues to bring in warmer air. Highs Saturday will likely hit the low 70s under partly sunny skies. The warming continues on Sunday and we will likely see a stretch of days in the 80s Sunday through Tuesday.
A cold front will cross the area Tuesday night or Wednesday, bringing an end to the warm temperatures and a slight chance of much needed rain.
