An area of low pressure developing off of the Carolina coast will move northward today through Thursday, bringing rain to the state. Rainfall will overspread the area from southeast to northwest during the late afternoon and evening hours. The rain may become heavy at times, mainly along and east of I-95 tonight.
As a result, a Flood Watch is in effect for the Baltimore and Washington metro areas. Rainfall totals of 1-2 inches with locally higher amounts are possible. Rainfall totals will taper off further west.
Highs today will be around 70 under cloudy skies.
The rain will taper off tomorrow morning as the low moves away from the area. It will remain cloudy and highs will again be around 70.
High pressure and sunshine will return Friday and into the weekend. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s Friday and around 80 on Saturday and Sunday.
