As strong low pressure continues to push northeastward, bringing heavy snows to northern New England, much colder air will be pulled into our region.
Scattered flurries and snow showers are ongoing in the western portions of the state, and will taper off through the day as the storm pulls away. Elsewhere, cloudy skies with occasional snow showers can be expected into the afternoon before dissipating. Highs today will be in the low 30s. Northwest winds will gust to near 25mph this afternoon and into tonight.
Skies will continue to clear tonight, with lows dipping into the upper teens.
Tomorrow will be sunny but cold and windy. Highs will be around 30 and winds will continue to gust to around 20mph.
Another clipper system will approach on Thursday, passing by to our north Thursday night. As it moves by, there is a chance of light rain or snow showers during the overnight. Highs on Thursday will be in the low to mid 30s.
That system will reinforce the cold air supply for the weekend. Highs on Friday will be in the low to mid 30s under mostly sunny skies but very strong northwest winds will make it feel much colder.
Those winds will deliver very cold air Friday night, with lows in the lower teens.
Highs on Saturday will only rebound into the mid to upper 20s under mostly sunny skies.
Another storm system may affect the area Sunday into Monday with rain or snow.
