Now that it is all but certain that Hurricane Joaquin will not directly impact our area this weekend, we can focus on the current system that is affecting us.
A stalled out frontal boundary along the coast along with an upper level low will be the focus for continued showers and eventually heavy rainfall this afternoon and into tonight. Additionally, it will remain breezy, with northeast winds gusting to near 30 mph today through tomorrow. Highs today will be in the mid 50s.
The rainfall will taper off tomorrow morning and become more scattered by tomorrow afternoon. It will remain breezy and cool with highs near 60°. When all is said and done, rainfall totals of 2+ inches are possible across the state. As a result a Flash Flood Watch is in effect until tomorrow morning for most of central and eastern portions of the state.
Scattered showers will remain possible tomorrow night into Sunday before drier air begins to move in, cutting off the rainfall as we move into Monday. Highs will push into the mid to upper 60s both days.
High pressure will build into the region Tuesday into Wednesday, setting up a dry and pleasant stretch of weather through the latter half of the work week. Highs will be in the upper 60s to low 70s through Friday.
