A cold front will push through the area bringing a period of snow showers to the state tonight and tomorrow. Snow showers are likely during the overnight across western Maryland, reaching the Washington/Baltimore metro areas during the early morning hours and the Eastern Shore by late morning. The snow will push off of the coast by late afternoon.
Here is the 3km NAM from 10pm tonight to 4pm tomorrow:
Outside of the mountains (where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for 2-4″) temperatures will be near or above freezing, especially from the cities south and east. In addition, the recent warm spell has warmed the ground which will also limit any accumulation. As a result, accumulation will be limited, with perhaps a dusting to a coating on colder surfaces, especially north and west of the cities.
Of course, the snow will likely impact the morning commute, regardless of how much it accumulates. Allow extra time and be prepared for the possibility of a few slick spots, especially in the northwest suburbs of the cities.
