Dry and Cool into Next Week; Chance of Snow Midweek?

High pressure will continue to control our weather through the weekend and into next week.

Expect cool, dry and breezy conditions, with highs in the low to mid 40s through Tuesday. In western Maryland, expect scattered upslope snow showers to continue through the weekend.

As we move towards midweek, the models continue to show an area of low pressure moving through the southeast in some form or fashion.

There are discrepancies between what the low will do and if it will impact our area. In any case, the threat of a late season snowfall persists and if it were to occur, it would most likely be on Wednesday.

Batches of scattered showers are slowly moving through the area this morning and will continue to affect the state into the afternoon.

Highs today will be around 50 degrees.

Colder and drier air will move into the region tomorrow. Expect partly sunny skies with highs in the mid 40s.

A dry, cold and breezy weekend is on tap. Highs will be in the low to mid 40s on Saturday, and only around 40 on Sunday.

The dry stretch will continue into next week, with highs in the low 40s on Monday and Tuesday.

As low pressure continues to move away from the area, today will feature more clouds than sun, with a slight chance of a sprinkle this afternoon.

It will be breezy with highs in the mid to upper 50s.

Tomorrow will be a bit cooler, with more widely scattered showers during the afternoon. Highs will be around 50.

Friday will start a stretch of cool and dry weather that will extend through the middle of next week, the exception will be in the mountains where upslope snow showers are likely.

Highs will generally be around 40 each day.

Low pressure will move into the area today, bringing rain to the state. Across far western Maryland, temperatures will remain cold enough for freezing rain and a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for Garrett and Allegany counties for significant icing.

Further east, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Washington county where a changeover to rain is expected this afternoon.

Even further east, expect rain to develop later this morning, possibly starting as a brief period of sleet. The rain will be steady through the day and into tonight.

A Flood Watch is in effect for the central part of the state, where around an inch of rainfall is expected.

High pressure will result in sunny skies today, with highs in the mid to upper 40s.

An area of low pressure will approach from the southwest tomorrow, spreading rain across the area. In far Western Maryland, it will be cold enough at the surface for a significant ice accumulation.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Garrett and Allegany counties for up to a quarter inch of ice accumulation.

Elsewhere, the rainfall may begin as a brief period of sleet before quickly changing to plain rain. Highs tomorrow will be in the low to mid 40s.

The rainfall will continue into tomorrow night before tapering off. Rainfall totals of a half to three quarters of an inch are possible.

Rain/Mix Moving into Area

Low pressure over the midwest is spreading light precipitation into the area this morning. The precip will likely start as a wintry mix, especially in the western parts of the state. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Garrett and Allegany counties where a light glaze of ice is possible.

Elsewhere, the mix should change over to plain rain without any ice accumulations. Highs today will top out in the mid 30s, except in western Maryland where temperatures may remain below freezing through the event.

The light precipitation will continue into tonight, as rain, mixing with sleet at times everywhere except western Maryland. Additionally, a coastal low pressure is expected to form and move by tomorrow, increasing rainfall tomorrow. Highs tomorrow will be around 40 degrees.

Mostly Sunny Today; Wintry Mix Develops Tomorrow

High pressure will build overhead today, providing another mostly sunny day. Highs will be in the upper 30s to near 40. It will continue to be breezy, with northwest winds gusting to around 20mph.

Clouds will begin to increase tonight as an area of low pressure approaches from the southwest.

Expect a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain to develop by tomorrow afternoon. The light mix will continue into tomorrow night before slowly transitioning to plain rain during the overnight. Highs tomorrow will only top out in the mid 30s.

A secondary low is expected to develop along the coast, keeping rain in the forecast for Saturday. Highs on Saturday will be around 40.

Windy Today and Tomorrow; Wintry Mix to Rain Friday

High pressure building into the region today will bring sunshine and breezy conditions through tomorrow. Winds may gust to near 30mph at times both days. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s both days.

Clouds will increase tomorrow night ahead of the next storm system to affect our area.

An area of low pressure will approach from the southwest. Meanwhile, high pressure over eastern Canada will funnel cold air down the east coast.

This wedge of cold air will set the stage for a wintry mix of precipitation Friday afternoon, changing to rain by Friday evening. Highs Friday will top out in the mid 30s.

A cold front is moving towards the area and bringing a swath of rainfall with it. Rain, with isolated areas of freezing rain is currently falling across western Maryland where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 11am. By that time, temperatures will be above freezing everywhere and just plain rain is expected.

The rain will continue to move eastward through the day, spreading into central Maryland by late morning. Highs today will be in the upper 40s.

Rain will continue to fall into this evening, as the front pushes through. Behind the front, winds will increase tonight, gusting to near 30mph.

High pressure sliding off the coast will provide sunny skies today with high temperatures near 40 degrees.

Clouds increase tonight as a cold front approaches from the west. The front will bring rain to the area tomorrow. The rain could start as sleet or freezing rain, especially north and west of I-95. Any frozen precip will be light and will change over to rain by late morning. Highs will be in the upper 40s.

The front clears the state tomorrow evening, bringing an end to the rainfall. Behind the front, gusty northwest winds will develop tomorrow night and Wednesday.
