Light snow will continue to taper off across the area this morning. As it does, expect winds to increase and gust to near 40mph again this afternoon. Highs today will be in the low to mid 30s.

Tomorrow will be partly sunny, as another clipper system approaches. Highs will be in the mid 30s.

Expect another round of light snow to develop tomorrow night as the next system moves in. The snow showers will continue Sunday.

A dusting to an inch of snow may accumulate during the overnight while Sunday’s snow will be falling with temperatures above freezing, which will limit additional accumulation. Winds will increase again Sunday evening into Sunday night.

Cold Front to Bring Heavy Rain Tonight

A cold front will approach from the west today. Ahead of the front, temperatures will climb this afternoon into the upper 60s to near 70. Winds will also increase this afternoon, gusting to near 30mph.

Showers will develop later this afternoon, becoming more widespread this evening. Additionally, thunderstorms will be possible tonight.

Some of the storms may become severe with strong gusty winds. Rainfall totals of 1-2 inches are likely before the front clears the area early tomorrow morning.

Colder air will stream into the area tomorrow on gusty northwest winds. Highs will top out in the mid 40s.

Partly Sunny, Warmer Today; Rainy Tomorrow

A warm front will slowly push north through the area today. As it does, temperatures will rise into the low low to mid 50s by this afternoon.

A cold front will approach tonight and tomorrow. Ahead of the front, temperatures will climb into the 60s with strong southerly flow. Showers will also develop tomorrow morning and will increase in coverage and intensity as the front moves closer tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Periods of heavy rain and even thunderstorms are possible into tomorrow night. Rain totals of over an inch are expected and strong gusty winds are possible within the showers and storms.

The front will clear the area late tomorrow night, followed by gusty northwest winds and colder temperatures on Thursday. Highs Thursday will top out in the mid 40s.

Wintry Mix Transitioning to Rain

Areas of sleet and freezing rain will continue to change to plain rain as we move through this morning. Temperatures across Central Maryland are around freezing at this time and will continue to rise. North and west of the cities, temperatures are a bit colder and will take a little longer to warm up.

All areas east of the mountains should be safely above freezing by noon.

Shower chances will continue this afternoon and into tonight.

Tomorrow we will be between storm systems as a warm front slowly pushes north of the state. Temperatures will warm into the low 50s under partly sunny skies.

A strong cold front will approach on Wednesday. Out ahead of it, temperatures will approach 60 degrees in most areas. The front will bring rain and even thunderstorms to the area Wednesday into Wednesday night. Some of the storms could be strong to severe, with damaging winds the main threat.

Light Snow Develops This Afternoon

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for all of Maryland, except for Garrett County, where a Winter Storm Warning is in effect.

A weak storm system will spread light snow over the state this afternoon from west to east. 4-6 inches of snow are expected over Garrett County, while 1-3 inches are expected within the Advisory areas.

There could be isolated higher amounts, especially across northern Maryland and Southern Maryland.

The snow will begin to wind down tonight, tapering to flurries and ending between 10pm and midnight.

Clearing Today; More Light Snow Tomorrow

As one over-performing storm departs, another will bring more snow to the area tomorrow. In between, expect a sunny but cold and windy day today. Highs will top out in the mid to upper 20s.

Last night’s clipper brought a dusting to northern parts of the state, while nearly 5 inches of snow fell across southern St. Mary’s county. Totals across central Maryland of 1-2″ were common.

The next system will have a bit more moisture with it, but will be a fast mover. Expect snow to develop during the afternoon and last into tomorrow night. Snowfall totals of 1-3″ are expected at this time, impacting the evening rush hour.

Behind that system, a cold and dry weekend is on tap. Highs on Saturday will push to near freezing, pushing into the mid 30s on Sunday.

Cold Again Today; Light Snow Tonight, again Friday

After a Tuesday in which we didn’t break the mid 20s, a cold Wednesday will follow. Expect similar temperatures to yesterday, with less wind. Highs today will be in the mid 20s.

A weak Alberta Clipper will move through tonight, bringing a chance of light snow to the area. Overnight accumulations of a dusting to possibly an inch in spots is possible.

The clipper moves out tomorrow, giving way to mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 20s to around 30.

Clouds increase again on Friday ahead of the next storm system that looks to bring light snow to the area Friday afternoon into Friday night. Highs Friday wil be in the upper 20s.

Very Cold and Windy; Chance of Wintry Precip on Friday

Following a cold frontal passage yesterday, bitterly cold air has spilled into the region on strong northwest winds. Highs today will struggle into the mid 20s while wind gusts to 30mph will make it feel like it is in the teens.

Tonight will see temperatures drop into the low teens for lows, warming to the mid 20s for highs again tomorrow.

There is a slight chance of light snow, with little to no accumulation tomorrow night as a weak system passes through.

A return to sunshine on Thursday, with highs in the upper 20s to near 30.

As mentioned yesterday, the low pressure that will bring snow to the area today and tonight will have a sharp dropoff of precipitation on the northern edge. As such, some areas will see flurries while others receive several inches of snow over a relatively short distance.

It appears that dividing line will setup across central Maryland today. Areas north of Baltimore will see little to no accumulation while in the counties to the south of the city, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for 1-3 inches of snow with the highest amounts the further south you go.
