Unsettled pattern this week

Current Surface Map
A warm front currently over southwest Virginia will push north through the area this evening, bringing warmer air and unsettled weather for most of this week. Before the front makes it through the area, we will see another day in the low to mid 60s today under partly sunny skies.

The front pushes through this evening, bringing a chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm tonight.

The first in a series of disturbances will move through tomorrow, bringing another chance of showers and storms, while high temperatures soar into the upper 70s to near 80.

Sunny today, more showers tomorrow

Current Surface Map
High pressure builds in today, pushing yesterday’s cold front down into the Carolinas. Expect ample sunshine with breezy conditions and highs into the low 60s.

Skies will remain clear into tonight, before clouds and rain begin to overspread the area again towards morning. An area of low pressure will move along the front to our south, providing showers and possibly thunderstorms as we move towards tomorrow afternoon.

The rain chances will continue into tomorrow night, tapering off as we move into Sunday morning. Highs both days will be around 60.

Showers today

Current Surface Map
Areas of light rain and showers will continue to affect the state today, with rainfall totals up to a half inch possible. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s.

The showers should clear out this evening, followed by decreasing clouds overnight. Tomorrow will be mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 60s.

Another area of low pressure will ride along the front to our south on Saturday, bringing another round of showers to the state into Sunday morning. Highs Saturday will only reach the mid 50s, with highs near 60 expected Sunday.

Mostly sunny today, showers tomorrow

Current Surface Map
High pressure will briefly control the weather today, providing mostly sunny skies with temperatures reaching the upper 60s to near 70.

An area of low pressure will move from the midwest into New England as we head into tomorrow. An area of showers and thunderstorms ahead of the system will move through late tonight and early tomorrow morning. The system will drag a cold front through the state during the day tomorrow, keeping the rain chances up, with thunderstorms also possible late in the afternoon and into the evening.

Cloudy, chance of showers

Current Surface Map
Today will be much like yesterday, but with a lesser chance of showers. Today’s high temperatures will be held down by the cloud cover, but should reach the upper 50s to low 60s in most spots.

Another cold night on tap tonight, with lows in the upper 30s to near 40.

High pressure briefly moves in on Wednesday, bringing warmer temperatures and some breaks in the cloud cover. Highs are expected to reach the mid 60s, which is near normal for this time of year. The high will be displaced by another storm system that will first drag a warm front through the state Wednesday night and Thursday. This will bring another chance of rain to the area, mainly on Thursday.

Low moves into New England, continuing rain chances

Current Surface Map
The area of low pressure that brought over an inch of much needed rain to the area yesterday will continue moving north into New England and will continue to bring heavy wet snow to the mountains and showers into Central Maryland. Additionally, strong northwest winds will develop on the backside of the storm. The combination of heavy snow and strong winds will cause damage to tree limbs and power lines in Western Maryland.

Highs in western Maryland will be in the 30s, further east highs will struggle into the upper 40s.

Sunny and mild today, rainy weekend on tap

Current Surface Map

Today will be sunny and mild, with highs into the mid 70s. A cold front will approach from the west, reaching the state tomorrow. Ahead of the front, showers and thunderstorms will develop and move through the state tomorrow.

The front will stall along the coast as an area of low pressure moves northward along the coast. At this time, it appears the low will track close enough to the area to bring locally heavy rainfall, especially for the eastern part of the state on Sunday and into Monday.

Decreasing clouds today

Current Surface Map
After a foggy start, high pressure will continue to move into the region today allowing for clearing skies and sunshine by this afternoon. Highs today will be in the upper 60s to low 70s.

A low pressure system and cold front will approach the area tomorrow, enhancing southerly flow and allowing temperatures to warm into the mid 70s under mostly sunny skies.

Clouds increase Friday night as the front nears, and scattered showers and thunderstorms will affect the state on Saturday. Latest model trends have the front clearing the area Saturday night causing the low pressure system that forms along it to track east of the area, decreasing the threat of heavy rain on Sunday and Monday. If this scenario plays out, there would still be a slight chance of rain, and it would be much lighter.

Showers today, heavier rain still possible this weekend

Current Surface Map
Showers associated with an area of low pressure are moving into the area from the southwest. Expect light rain to continue off and on through the day and into tonight. Highs today will be in the low 60s under cloudy skies.

Skies clear tomorrow, as high pressure builds in from the north. Expect temperatures to reach the upper 60s to near 70 under mostly sunny skies.

High pressure moves off the coast on Friday, allowing southerly flow to increase, driving temperatures back up into the mid to upper 70s under sunny skies. Clouds increase Friday night as another, a cold front and larger storm system moves in for the weekend.

Cooler stretch… rainy weekend on tap

Current Surface Map
A weak cold front will cross the state this morning, bringing in cooler air tomorrow and Thursday. Highs today will manage to get into the mid 70s under mostly sunny skies.

The front will stall just to our south tomorrow, as low pressure forms over the Carolinas. This will bring a chance of showers to the area tomorrow and tomorrow night. With extensive clouds and northeasterly flow, highs tomorrow will struggle into the low 60s.
