Showers likely into the afternoon; Continued warmth through Friday

A Freezing Rain Advisory is in effect until 10am for areas north and west of I-95.


A weak cold front is spreading showers through the state this morning. Some areas, especially north and west of I-95 are below freezing, causing icy spots. Temperatures everywhere will rise above freezing this morning, reaching the upper 40s to around 50. Showers will likely continue off and on into the afternoon before clearing out this evening.

High pressure builds in tonight and slides off the coast tomorrow. As a result, expect partly sunny skies and highs around 50.

A stronger cold front will approach Thursday night, spreading showers into the area by Friday morning. Some of the showers may contain locally gusty winds as well. The showers will continue Friday morning and into the afternoon. The front will likely push through during the afternoon hours, bringing an end to the rain. Highs will be in the upper 50s to around 60.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for areas north and west of I-95.

A Freezing Rain Advisory remains in effect for areas south and east of I-95.


A storm system to our west continues to move towards the northeast. All areas are now seeing freezing rain or plain rain depending on location. Generally, areas to the south and east of Baltimore and Washington are climbing above freezing at this time while north and west remain below freezing and will remain below freezing for a few more hours.

It is in these areas that the Winter Storm Warning is in effect. Up to 1/3 inch of ice can be expected before the rain tapers off this afternoon.

The rain/freezing rain should end by early afternoon for all areas as the storm continues to move away from the area. Highs today will climb to around 40 degrees.

Light Freezing Rain Changes to Rain this Morning; Heavy Rain Likely Tomorrow

A weak disturbance is bringing light freezing rain to the area this morning. Temperatures will warm above freezing over the next hour or so in most places, changing the freezing rain to plain rain/drizzle. Off and on showers are likely today as highs climb into the low 40s.

A Freezing Rain Advisory remains in effect for most of the state until 9am for central Maryland, 11am north and west and on the eastern shore.

More substantial rainfall is likely tonight and tomorrow as a cold front approaches from the west. Rainfall totals of near 2″ are possible before it comes to an end tomorrow evening. It will also be much warmer tomorrow with highs around 60 degrees.

Sunday will feature mostly sunny skies and highs around 50.

A warm front currently moving through the state has spread ample moisture up the coast resulting in foggy, misty conditions. Highs today will be in the mid 60s.

A cold front is approaching from the west and will move into the area tonight. Expect showers to break out before daybreak tomorrow morning.

Rain chances will increase through the day tomorrow and last thorough tomorrow night. Highs will be in the low to mid 50s tomorrow.

Saturday will be a transition day, as the cold front settles to our south allowing partial clearing. It will be colder with highs in the low 40s.

Cold high pressure will continue to settle into the region late Saturday and Saturday night. This will set the stage for Sunday as an area of low pressure approaches from the southwest.
