The area of low pressure that brought unsettled weather and flooding rainfall to the area will move off to the east today. More showers and thunderstorms will be possible as it moves off and a cold front approaches this evening. Highs today will be in the low to mid 80s.

The front will move through tomorrow morning clearing out any residual showers or storms. Highs will push into the mid to upper 80s.

Behind the front, drier air will move in for the rest of the work week. Expect mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 80s Wednesday through Friday.

Mostly Sunny Today, Chance of Showers This Weekend

High pressure will hold on to control our weather one more day, providing a mostly sunny Friday with highs in the upper 80s.

In a surprising change to the forecast, an area of low pressure is developing over the Carolinas today and will strengthen as it moves northward tomorrow. The low will move slowly northward, bringing a chance of showers tomorrow and Sunday. The easterly flow around the low will also keep temperatures in the low 80s.

A break in the weather is expected on Monday, with a return of sunshine and temperatures in the mid 80s.

An upper level low will continue to influence our weather for the first half of this week. The easterly flow from the low will keep clouds in the area and will keep temperatures well below normal.

Additionally, showers and even a thunderstorm are possible today through Wednesday. Highs today will be in the mid 70s.

The low will begin to move out tomorrow into Wednesday. Expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms each day with highs in the low to mid 80s.

Mostly Sunny, Chance of Afternoon Storms

As a cold front works its way through the state today, expect mostly sunny skies, giving way to scattered showers and thunderstorms again this afternoon.

Some of the storms could become severe with damaging winds, especially along and east of I-95. Highs today will be in the upper 80s.

The front clears tonight and ushers in sunshine and drier air tomorrow. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.

Another front approaches on Friday, increasing moisture and rain chances again. Scattered thunderstorms are expected Friday afternoon and evening. These storms may also become severe. Highs will be around 90.

Slight Chance of Storms Today, Better Chance Tomorrow

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over the mountains today and will move eastward into Central and Eastern Maryland through the afternoon and evening.

The activity will be isolated and most spots will remain dry. Any areas that do get a storm can expect brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Highs will be in the upper 80s.

As low pressure and a cold front approach tomorrow, rain and thunderstorm chances increase dramatically. Expect more widespread rainfall tomorrow afternoon and into the night with scattered thunderstorms as well. Some of the storms may become severe with damaging wind as the primary threat. Highs will be in the upper 80s.

Isolated Thunderstorms This Afternoon

A stationary boundary continues to bisect the state, with warm humid air to the south and east of it and slightly drier air to the north and west. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon in the muggy air, much like they did yesterday across Southern and Eastern Maryland. Today’s activity will be roughly from Central Maryland southward. Highs today will be around 90 degrees.

A cold front to our west will send areas of precipitation our way tomorrow, resulting in another day of scattered shower and thunderstorms. Highs again will be around 90.

The cold front moves closer and pushes through late Friday and Saturday. This will increase rain chances, making thunderstorms likely both days. Highs will be in the mid 80s.

Partly Sunny Today

A nearly stationary boundary has pressed into the state today, separating drier air to the north from muggy air to the south. The boundary is expected to remain near the area today, also providing ample cloud cover. Highs today will be in the low 90s.

Southwest flow will begin to develop through the day today and last through the week. This will allow moisture levels to increase and provide a chance of thunderstorms tomorrow and Thursday afternoon and evenings. Highs will be around 90 both days.

Hot and Humid, Scattered Afternoon Thunderstorms

As high pressure moves off the coast today, warm humid air will continue to flow into the area.

The airmass will support the development of isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 90s with heat index values around 100.

More of the same tomorrow, hot and humid with scattered afternoon thunderstorms. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s.

The high pushes off the coast tonight, allowing the heat and humidity to build tomorrow. This will set the stage for isolated showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. Highs tomorrow will be in the mid 90s.

Thunderstorm chances continue on Saturday as a weak area of low pressure moves through. Highs will be in the low 90s.
